This is the first of my blogs that documents my learning here in the Google Tools for Teachers course. I was very excited to take this course. I am a very hands on teacher and individual. I use technology to assist when creating art and documenting art only. Creating a site, managing a site, and exploring technology is a full time art upon itself. Finding a balance is very difficult as an art teacher. Technology has a role but it is just a tool like my brush, pen, or pencil. Understanding your tools makes you a more successful artistic no matter what task is asked of you. Please feel free to revisit my blog to hear me ramble...good ramble!
PS....tHIS PIC WAS TAKEN WITH MY iPAD AND UPLOADED TO pICASA AND SENT TO HERE! i AM BETTER WITH DO THAN WORDS. tHANK YOU!
Hi Bill,
ReplyDeleteOne of the videos we watched showed an art school and the person speaking said a similar thing about technology and art. There is a time for computers and technology to be a part of the education process but technology isn't always the best tool. Sometimes you must put away technology and use a more appropriate tool.
biL, You have a great power to look cool even when you look goofy. I love this pic. Did you upload your Ipad photo directly to Picasa using Safari?
ReplyDeleteI agree that technology is only one of the tools in your artist's tool box. As a pastel artist, the color that I can create using a chalk is a great creative experience. However, figuring out how to make these Google tools work the way you envision is also a different but great creative feeling.
biL, I agree with you in part about the role of technology as a tool, particularly in the field of art. I also think you are in a unique role in terms of how technology can connect artists and works of art. The digital world provides you and students access to mentor artists all over the world as well as examples of kinds of art and aspects of it. It would be amazing to create a wiki or site that schools all over the world could publish art to as a way to compare how culture influences styles of art...there is my ramble...good?, not sure...
